I ran across this quote by Betsie Ten Boom: “I KNOW that no pit is so deep that He is not deeper still. They will believe us because we have been there.”This quote brought me to tears! It rather surprised me! I remember many words by Betsie's sister Corrie Ten Boom,who died in the Holocaust. Corrie knew pain, she knew heartbreak---she had seen her family taken away and killed, as well as many Jews that they were trying to save. She probably wrote this quote right before she died. This woman was deep in a pit…but she knew that God’s love is DEEPER STILL! I reflect back on the many clients God has brought to me. I have had the great opportunity to lead many women and men into healing through my video curriculum “In the Wildflowers” and “Into My Arms” for those who have been sexually abused and experienced post abortion trauma. They are heroes! The pain and atrocities they have endured is beyond your wildest dreams—unimaginable—but even more incredible is the depth of the love of God they have experienced! WOW! It truly is mind-blowing! These Saints I have met and Betsy Ten Boom know, without a doubt, that God provides a rock-solid foundation for their lives no matter what the horror they have gone through. God never ever leaves our side. I myself know what it is like to be “shipwrecked” but more then that I know to invite God into those deep places of trauma and assault. Each and every step of the way his presence shines brighter still. But we have to know who we are as we go through deep waters. None of us will pass through this life pain-free, but the GREAT news is Jesus is the ultimate pain reliever! John 16:33 “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” As God has healed me and many others with his healing touch I sit back and watch---the equation of pain and joy is not equal! The deeper the pain, the deeper the joy, but the joy is even greater, more profound the deeper the pain…hang on—God has so much JOY for you—it will take your breath away!
